It all began in a quiet moment during a big life change: our family moved home.
Like so many parents, I found myself standing in the attic, staring at box after box of my daughter’s old soft toys. Dusty teddies, well-loved bunnies, plush characters that had been her constant companions through bedtime stories, playdates, and holidays Each one held memories — little hugs, tea parties, adventures and tears — but they were gathering dust, no longer played with, yet impossible to just throw away. The thought of them ending up in landfill felt heart breaking. These weren’t just toys, they were pieces of her childhood.
I couldn’t bear the idea of letting them go to waste. So I pulled them out, dusted them off, gave them a gentle clean, and suddenly they looked almost new again. The transformation was magical - a tired old bear became fluffy and fresh, ready for more cuddles.
What if these pre-loved toys could find new homes instead of sitting forgotten or discarded? What if families could discover affordable, sustainable gifts that were already full of character and history? And what if, by giving them a second chance, we could keep thousands out of landfill while sharing a little extra kindness through charity donations?
And begore i knew it, Pre-Hugged was born.
Pre-Hugged isn’t just about toys — it’s about closing the loop on waste, celebrating the stories toys carry, and making sustainable gifting feel warm and personal. And because we feel that the joy should be shared, a percentage of every sale goes to children’s charities.
It started with one mum, one attic, and one too many teddies I couldn’t say goodbye to. Now, it’s a little business helping toys and families find their next chapter.
